The Two Mikes

The Two Mikes
Ever wanted to talk with someone about a book you just read? You could just join a book group and talk about it, drink a little, veer off on tangents, work back around to the book again, and finally wrap it up by picking the next book.

But what happens when the book you just read is about about hungry zombies or a haunted house, and your Eat, Pray, Love–reading friends aren’t really into reading it, much less discussing its finer points? That’s what we’re here for. We Two Mikes will be your virtual book group for discussing new and interesting and old and half-forgotten horror books.

If you want to follow along with us, look at the next forbidden book on the table and start reading.

Thanks for the mention. And for giving Risen a flyer. I thought Knight/Strnad did a couple of clever things.

Yes, Jack Vance's Emphyrio. Sorry, I'm male. There goes your groupie fantasy!

Hate to gripe, but there were frequent fading-out problems in this episode's recording. What was different? It's as if some automatic-level function was on the fritz. Or maybe you just forgot to keep facing the mic.

Tom Waits makes up for it, however.

Glad to hear there's some originality in this book. I have to say, though, shame on the publisher: the typeface is Manson, the selfsame type used on Neil Gaiman's Sandman books.

Almost as if they hoped to sow confusion...

Yep - the fading out problem was annoying to me too. I'll continue to blame Mike S but will figure it and hopefully the next epi will be clearer. I agree about the connection to Gaiman. Thanks for your patience. Mike M.

I blame our new microphone stand on the sound problems (it's a 1934 Webster's Unabridged dictionary and is thick enough to rest a mobile home on).

Always thought your were a dude, Emphyrio, but now I'll probably read the Vance book, if I can locate a copy. I'm a fan.

Our copies of Risen arrived a few days ago, so we'll get reading soon.

Happy new year to all.

Good show, as always...
I assumed the in-and-out sound was due to my crappy computer... so I struggled on through.

Seeing as I just polished off a compilation of Raymond Chandler this sounds great and I went ahead and ordered the first one.
