The Mikes head to the rolling hills of Iowa to see what horror is down on the farm in Daniel Kraus's YA book Scowler. It sure enough ain't no visit to Green Acres where kids are brutalized, stuffed animals seek revenge and meteors fall out of the sky. Keep Manhattan and just give me that countryside.

White Special Drink
1 egg white ( very fresh)
1 1/2 shots of good Gin
1/2 shot of Domaine de Canton
1/2 Shot of Creme de Violette
A squeeze of lime or a scraping of vanilla bean one or the other, your choice.
Put into a shaker with lots of ice. Shake well to get the egg frothy. Strain into martini glass and garnish with an orange peel. Chin Chin.

How about reading one of those Lovecraft biographies out there? I bet that'd generate some interesting discussion.
That's an intriquing idea, Emphyrio. I've long wanted to read Joshi's bio, or maybe De Camp's. I read Houellebecq's book on Lovecraft a while back and didn't hate it, although I don't remember much.

I recommend De Camp's. Four bucks on Amazon, used. He's a pithy writer, and fairly objective about HPL's foibles and literary merits. I've not read Joshi's, but given its massive page count, and the somewhat ponderous literary criticism he's done elsewhere, and his position as HPL's apostle, I expect it's more exhaustive, but perhaps exhausting.
Please tell me - what is the 'special outro music' for this episode? I need it in my life.
